New Windows: They Saved My Bank Account

I have to admit that I am very frugal, but I have to be with my large family. When heating and air-conditioning bills were just becoming too much to bear, I finally caved in and bought new windows that I was told were more energy-efficient. They weren't as expensive as I thought they would be, which was great news. I had them installed just before winter began, and I received the lowest heating bill for the month of November that I had received in years! I was so happy that I had those windows installed, especially after being so hesitant to spend the cash on them. I created this blog to help other frugal people like me realize that sometimes spending money on home improvements really does pay off in the long run! I am now looking into new home insulation to save even more cash!

How To Arrange Flowers In Colored Glass Vases

by Michelle Davidson

If you have colored glass vases that you want to fill with flowers, you must be sure that you are choosing the right flowers that will help complement and show off the vases in a beautiful and eye-appealing way. If you choose the wrong type of flower arrangement, it could clash with the vase and make the entire piece look tacky and out of place in your home. Here's how to arrange flowers in these different colored vases:

A Red Glass Vase:

If you have a red glass vase that you would like to display in your home, you will want to consider filling it with lots of greens and just a few colorful flowers. This will allow the red vase to stand out and add a significant pop of color to any room. Having a red glass vase is also a great way to save on the cost of having red roses in your home. Instead, you can always have that nice pop of red with the red colored vase with a much more affordable floral arrangement inside. Just be sure that none of the colorful flowers you add are purple since purple clashes with red and will just make the whole arrangement appear out of place.

A White Glass Vase:

A white glass vase is very traditional and elegant. In order to ensure that the vase continues to appear elegant and traditional, you will want to add the right type of floral arrangement, which can include pink carnations or roses, even white roses. Just be sure that the green stems of the white roses are seen from the top of the vase so that it perfectly blends together the whiteness of the vase and the whiteness of the roses.

A Green Colored Vase:

For a more modern look, a green colored vase is perfect, especially when filled with pink carnations or simply white fillers. This provides a very simple, elegant look while still allowing you to bring in some of the liveliness of having fresh flowers in your home.

A Yellow Colored Vase:

For those who really enjoy having bright colors in their home, you may consider a yellow colored vase that you can fill with sunflowers. You just have to be careful to guarantee that the two yellows don't clash with one another. The yellow of the vase should be significantly darker in color than the sunflowers, which allows the sunflowers to become the focal point and the darkness of the green stems to contrast with the darker color yellow of the vase.

By knowing how to use colored vases in your home you can be sure that you get that pop of color you want while still guaranteeing it is appealing to the eye and complementary to any room in which you place it.
