New Windows: They Saved My Bank Account

I have to admit that I am very frugal, but I have to be with my large family. When heating and air-conditioning bills were just becoming too much to bear, I finally caved in and bought new windows that I was told were more energy-efficient. They weren't as expensive as I thought they would be, which was great news. I had them installed just before winter began, and I received the lowest heating bill for the month of November that I had received in years! I was so happy that I had those windows installed, especially after being so hesitant to spend the cash on them. I created this blog to help other frugal people like me realize that sometimes spending money on home improvements really does pay off in the long run! I am now looking into new home insulation to save even more cash!

Tree Trimming Can Help You Avoid Expensive Property Damages

by Michelle Davidson

Spending the time and money to trim the trees on your property is important for a lot more than just making your landscape look good, especially if there are large trees near your house. If you never trim the trees in your yard, you could be making a mistake. While big, luscious trees are beautiful, the damage they can cause is not. Check out these reasons to maintain a regular schedule for trimming the trees on your property.

Signs It Is Time To Trim Your Trees

Knowing when it is time to trim your trees is important to prevent the death of their branches, the best way to lower the risk of them damaging your house. If you see one branch with dying leaves, it is most likely damaged and dying. Cutting out branches with any changes in their leaves is a good idea. If you find branches crossing over one another, be sure to cut them out if they are touching. When two branches rub together, they eventually become weak in the place they are rubbing against one another, making it a lot easier for high winds to knock them out.

Too Many Tree Branches Provide Shade That Promotes Mold Growth

Mold can fast become a serious problem in your home, catching you completely unaware. Mold can create health hazards that can make you and your family sick. Also, if mold starts growing on the exterior of your home because tree branches have hung over it for a long time, the chances of the wood underneath being rotted due to high moisture are higher. Mold and mildew must have constant moisture to survive. If tree branches are blocking out the sunlight, mold can grow unchecked. For this reason, making sure you keep tree branches trimmed away from your home is important.

Broken Windows And Damaged Shingles Are Costly To Replace

High winds can cause dead branches to fall and hit the windows of your house, a hazard if someone is near a window inside the home. Storms that produce lightning can be a deadly combination with large trees near your house. If lightning happens to strike one of the trees near your house, parts of the tree could end up in the middle of your living room floor, right after it crashed through your roof.

Keeping large trees trimmed around your home is important for safety reasons and for maintaining your lawn's beauty. Big trees can make a gorgeous frame for your home and can help to increase the value of your property when they are properly pruned and maintained.
